Frequently aSked questions
New to eyelash extensions?
Full Set - A ‘Full Set’ is your first eyelash appointment. During a ‘Full Set’ appointment, eyelash extension are applied to every one of your health natural lashes - leaving your eyelashes looking long and full!
Infill - An ‘Infill’ appointment is a follow up booking with your lash artist. For best results we recommend infills being applied within 2-3 weeks of the original full set. Any follow-up appointment after 4 weeks of your initial appointment will be classified as a full set. Infills are designed for maintenance only. Infills are there to re-enhance your set once shedding of your natural lashes occurs.
If this is the first time getting eyelash extensions we recommend booking in for a complimentary patch test. This is to ensure there are no adverse effects to the medical grade eyelash adhesive and to give you a small taste of the process.
We highly recommend this to be done at least 3 days prior to your full set.

Caring for your lashes
Eyelash adhesive take 24 hours to completely cure.
Do not get your lashes wet for the first 24 hours. Avoid swimming, sweating, saunas and steam from the shower or bath. Exposing your new extensions to moisture such as waster, heat, steam and high humidity will cause the adhesive to over cure. This will result in retention issues.
Do not pick or pull at the extensions and avoid rubbing your eyes.
Do not touch your lashes as your hands contain oils.
Do not use any oil-based products on or around the eye area.
Brush your extensions daily with the mascara wand to keep them looking neat and tidy.
Mascara is best to avoid.
Do not use an eyelash curler as this will weaken the bond
Cleaning your lashes
After the first 24 hours, clean your lashes daily with an eyelash extension oil free cleanser.
It is very important to keep your lashes clean to avoid irritation and infection. Oils build up from makeup residue and also from natural skin secretions.
Maintaining your lashes
Infills should be booked every 2-3 weeks to keep your extensions looking their best.
We shed approximately 3 natural lashes per eye per day. So after 7 days you will lose 21 extensions, 14 days 42 extensions and 21 days 63 extensions. Infills are required so we can replace the extensions that have naturally shed with your natural lashes.
If you wish to maintain your extensions, please return for an infill within 3 weeks and with at least 50% of you set remaining. Please arrive to your appointment make up free.
Natural lashes grow in cycles of 9-12 weeks. This means the amount of lashes you have week after week will vary depending on what stage of the lash cycle your lashes are in. Some weeks your lashes will look fuller than others, and some weeks your retention will be better. Humans experience a larger lash shed during spring and autumn. Do not be alarmed. This has been happening your entire life

Before Your Appointment
Please come to your appointment clean and make-up free. If you have any product residue on your lashes the glue will not bond and your extensions will fall off quicker than expected. This includes eye and face make up, as foundation will cause the eye pads to slip. If any extra cleaning is required, other than our standard lash wash, this will cut into your appointment time or incur a fee.
It would be best to use the bathroom before your appointment as we will not be able to have any breaks, including smoking breaks. Once the eye pads are applied your eyes must stay shut for the duration of your appointment.
It is also recommended that you come to your appointment alone. As much as we love children, we are unable to supervise them. As your eyes will be closed the entire time you will not be able to attend to them.
Appointment times will vary depending on what service you are booked for. This also is determined by your natural eyelashes:
Full Set: 2-2.45hrs
Infills: 1.15-1.45hrs
Appointment Reminders
You will receive a reminder to your appointment via SMS and Email 48hrs prior followed by another one 24hrs before to your scheduled booking.
Reschedules and No Shows
Minimum of 48 hours notice is required to cancel your appointment.
Minimum of 24 hours notice is required to reschedule your appointment.
If an appointment is cancelled or rescheduled within 24 hours of your appointment, you will be charged 50% of your service price as a cancellation fee.
If you do not show up to your appointment at the scheduled appointment time, you will be charged 100% of your service price as a cancellation fee.
A credit card deposit for all full set appointments will be required at the time of booking and will be nonrefundable if the aforementioned has occurred.
Please do not run late to your scheduled appointment time. This will limit your appointment, as all bookings have a strict allocated time schedule and your eyelash artist will not be able to go overtime.
FAQs
+ What are eyelash extensions?
Eyelash extensions are single synthetic fibres, shaped to mimic a natural eyelash. They are applied directly to your natural lash close to the lash line with a semi-permanent bonding adhesive. The extension is applied to a single isolated lash, leaving the eyelashes and eyelids to move freely.
+ How long do eyelash extensions last?
They last the lifecycle of your lash which is 5-6 weeks before every lash sheds and new ones grow. Infills are required every 2-3 weeks with 40% of your lashes remaining. Anything after 4 weeks is classified as a full set. Everyone’s lashes have a life cycle and shed, just like the hair on your head. Once a natural lash’s life cycle is complete, the lash falls out naturally, taking the extension with it. If you want to maintain your lash extensions, we recommend infilling your lash set approximately every 2-3 weeks. By this stage, some lashes would have fallen out as new lashes have grown through. If you care properly for your lashes, your extensions will last longer. If you happen to have very oily skin it is natural that you will need infills more regularly. + How long is an appointment?
The whole process normally takes 2-2.45hrs for a full set and 1.15-1.45hrs for infills. This depends on your natural lashes and what set we are trying to achieve. Applying eyelash extensions is a delicate process that requires patience and concentration from your lash technician. This is the time to relax and have a sleep. The less movement by you, the better we can get the job done. The more thoroughly you take care of your lashes the less time will be needed for your infills. We always encourage a little nap during your appointment so that you are completely relaxed.
+ What are lash infills and why do I need them?
Infills are required 2 to 3 weeks after your initial lash appointment. You will start seeing little gaps where the old ones have fallen and new baby lashes will be coming through – at this point you will need an infill to touch them up so your lashes always look nice and full.
+ How should I prepare for my appointment?
Your lashes must be clean and free of any make up for your appointment. This includes eye and face make up, as foundation will cause the eye pads to slip. All eye make-up must be totally removed as we cannot apply extensions on top of residue. A fee will be charged if make up needs to be removed by your technician depending on the time it takes to get eyelash into a natural state. Please use the bathroom before you lay down as taking off and reapplying the eye pads will cut into your appointment time.
+ I have lost a few extensions in the last 24 hours, is this normal?
Yes, this is completely normal, the average person loses between 2-5 natural lashes per eye a day, therefore the lashes will fall out with them.
+ Why have I lost a lot of lashes from one eye only?
The most common reason is that you may sleep on that side during the night which puts pressure onto the bonds of the eyelash extensions and can cause them to fall off.
+ Why are my lashes falling off quicker this time and I have not changed anything?
Hormones can affect the oil production in your skin. During your menstruation cycle, your body will produce more sebum that creates a lubricant layer on the skin which will loosen the adhesive. The weather and season will also affect the bodies’ own lash cycle. During certain times of the year your hair may shed quicker than others. This normally happens during a change of season. During summer our lashes are the healthiest as they get a lot of UV, however spending a lot of time at the beach or swimming during summer will break down the glue.
+ What maintenance is required?
We recommend that you lightly brush your eyelash extensions after washing your face every day to ensure they remain straight and in line with your natural lashes. Clean lashes are healthy lashes. We recommend using a lash wash as part of your daily skin routine or in the shower. You can purchase Sky Zone Lash Wash from The Beauty Bubble. You can read more about lash maintenance here: www.beauybubblesyd.com.au/aftercare
+ Who should not get eyelash extensions?
If you have any eye irritations or experience allergies from products being applied to your skin or hair. Please do not book for lashes if you have any eye infections as we will not be able to service you. You also need to be comfortable laying down on your back for your whole lash appointment with your eyes closed. Please do not smoke tobacco products directly prior to your appointment and note that you will not be able to smoke until after your appointment has concluded.
+ Do eyelash extensions damage your natural lashes?
Never – if they are applied correctly and if you take care of them well! We take special care to ensure that our lash extensions are all applied individually and correctly to maintain the health of your natural lash. To ensure the long-term health of your lashes, we highly recommend that you take the advice of your lash stylist regarding the maximum thickness and length that your lashes can safely hold as this is one main factor of eyelash damage. If an extension of the appropriate/safe length and thickness has been applied, your natural lashes will continue to grow through a normal lash cycle. Your eyelashes will not last as long if they are too heavy for the natural lash. Don’t try to remove the eyelash extensions yourself as this could easily damage your natural lashes, as the adhesive bond is extremely strong. If another lash tech has promised she can achieve this look for you, please investigate their methods. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
+ Is the application process for eyelash extensions painful?
Not at all – if applied properly by the lash tech. Eyelash extensions are applied directly to the eyelash itself, so there is zero contact with the skin. People with extremely sensitive eyes or sinus problems may get some watering and experience slight stinging, but this normally subsides within seconds. Please alert us immediately if you are experiencing any stinging during the treatment. Some individuals with very dry eyes/eyes that don’t close properly may have slight irritation therefore we will adjust our procedure to keep you comfortable. This is why it is important to avoid caffeine prior as this can cause twitching.
+ Will eyelash extensions irritate my eyes?
No – once your eyelash extensions are applied, they should feel just like your normal lashes. The only way that lashes can become uncomfortable is if you repeatedly rub your eyes or are rough with your extensions as this can twist the extensions, which could make the lashes feel like they are pulling.
+ Can I pick the lash look I want?
Within reason, however, your lash technician will always explain to you what your natural lashes can safely support. Eyelash technicians can only work from a platform of natural lashes. Extensions can only enhance what lashes you have. The health of your natural lash is always the priority. This will allow you to keep on getting eyelashes as they are applied in a sustainable way. For more information have a read of our blog post:
+ Can I wear eye makeup with my eyelash extensions?
Avoid all types of mascara and stick on lashes. These products are very difficult to remove from extensions. We will not be able to infill lashes that have had mascara applied to them. You can wear eyeshadow and face make up as long as it is oil free and is removed thoroughly. Please come to your appointment completely make-up free.
+ Are eyelash extensions safe when pregnant?
Eyelash extensions are a safe and non-invasive cosmetic procedure. In saying this, if you are pregnant and have never had eyelash extensions, we strongly recommend a patch test out before your treatment. This patch test must be completed at least 3 days prior to the booking to test any reactions. The patch test gives you a chance to see what it’s like lying in that position for a short time, so that you can gauge how well your body will respond to a prolonged appointment as this may be uncomfortable for you.
+ Can I bring my children or another friend/family member to the appointment?
Please come to your appointment alone. Our lash technicians need to be able to move around the space freely, we need to ensure a relaxing experience for any other clients visiting at the same time, and a salon often contains dangerous or hot materials that are not suitable for children to be near. Most importantly, we cannot offer supervision for your children – your eyes must remain closed for the duration of the treatment and your therapist must focus on doing her job.
