When picking your lash set there are a few things you need to consider.

These things include:

  • Your natural lash thickness and health

Your set comes down to the hair growth of your natural lashes and genetics. The thicker your natural lashes, the more extensions you can apply.  This is the golden lash rule!  Sometimes we physically can not achieve a certain look if you have thin, sparse lashes as this may damage your natural lash state.  If your natural lashes are fine, you may lack the volume in comparison to someone who has thicker hair.  We will always try and get as close to the style that you love but will never compromise the health of your natural eyelashes.

  • Personal style

Here you need to consider how bold and dramatic or understated and natural you want your set to look.  Your eyelash extensions are here to enhance what is already beautiful, the choice is now yours to amplify and excite them from here!

  • Your lifestyle

A few things to note here are your profession and time you can spare for maintenance.

  • The shape of your eyes and lid space and face shape

During your consultation your lash artist will give the best possible advice on picking a shape that enhances your natural beauty.  This is called ‘eye styling’ where we map out if we want to elongate or open your eyes placing certain lash lengths in specific zones on your eye.

These are all things that help you determine what is going to be easiest for you to maintain and lashes that you're going to love.

When deciding how ‘thick’ you want your lashes to be we look at choosing between Classic, Hybrid, Volume or Max Volume. Classic being the lightest and Max Volume being the darkest.  When applied correctly they should all feel the same, weightless - but they definitely look different.

Below is a brief explanation of the 4 most popular ‘styles’ of eyelash extension.

Natural Eye - The goal of this look is to keep the lashes looking natural as it follows the same contours of your natural eyelashes.  This style suits everyone!
Open Eye - Longest lengths are placed in the center of the eye so give an illusion that your eye is more open.  This is perfect for those with smaller eyes.
Doll Eye - this style involves shorter lashes placed on the inner and outer corners, whilst longer lashes are placed along the middle of the eye. This is a great style for those with hooded eyes. It is the sweet spot between Natural Eye and Open Eye.

Cat Eye - The lashes begin at the inner corner at their shortest length and gradually taper up reaching their maximum length at the outer corner.  If you're the one to wear winged eyeliner this look is for you!  Candidates for Cat Eye are usually those with bigger, more almond shaped eyes as it helps define and elongate.

From here we can then decide if you would like your lashes to have a more uniformed top line or if you like your lashes wispy and textured.  The curl of the extension is also optional as they come in a variety of intensities.  The chosen curl is determined by how curly your natural lashes are and how strong you want the curl to be.

Remember that all of the above are recommendations based on conventional beauty however your personal preference is what matters most. Choose a lash style that fits you and what you love.
